ABOUT

So who am I ?

My name is Keith Doxey and I started listening to the radio properly in about 1968/9 and decided I would like to be a DJ one day.

When I was 11 years old my Dad took me on holiday to Austria and the picture you see is the first time I ever DJ'ed.

At the age of 13 I started to DJ at the local Youth Club. The equipment there was very old and in a poor state of repair. That is when my other hobby of Electronics came into play and the equipment was repaired and improved over the next few years. We moved from that village when I was 17 and I started to attend the Youth Club in my new village and started up an in house Radio Station is a small store room. Although it was called a Radio Station we didn't actually broadcast on the air just over the speakers in the Youth Club.

The following year having passed my Driving Test,  I built my own set of Disco Equipment and started doing Mobile Discos. There were several different versions of my Disco over the next 7 or 8 years but sadly I don't have any photos of them.

In 1981 I was resident DJ in the Children's Room of a local Holiday Camp where I got given the nickname of "Krazy Keith"

By the late 1980's I was repairing equipment for several local DJ's and then started to look after some of the Nightclubs and Disco Bars. In 1993 I became involved with a local community radio station that was hoping to get a full time licence to operate a station in my area and I built the studios for three RSL's (Restrictive Service Licence).

By this time I had "Retired" from DJing but the feeling never goes away and in  2010 I was asked to join several of my DJ friends from "Back in the day" and we started on a series of "Reunion Nights" reliving the classic times of the 1970's and 1980's. It was at this time I started to collect and restore classic Disco Equipment.

This website is a way to record the work that goes into restoring old equipment and building equipment from scratch. That's the way it was when I started in the early Seventies as the things we wanted were either not commercially available or were prohibitively expensive.

I hope you find this website interesting and informative and if you have any questions please use the CONTACT page to send me a message.
